Two of Hockey Graphs contributors, Josh Weissbock and MoneyPuck, along with two Simon Fraser University professors, Tim Schwartz and Oliver Schulte, are organizing the first ever Vancouver Hockey Analytics Conference (#VanHAC).
This is not the first hockey analytics conference, as there have been a few popping up in recent years, including those in Alberta, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Washington DC and Rochester.
Date and location
The conference will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at the Harbour Centre, in downtown Vancouver.
It is an all day event and will include a data scraping workshop.
There will be smaller activities planned that weekend, which we will update you on as the information is solidified.
Registration
Registration can be done at the official VanHAC web page.
Cost of the event is by donation, with all initial proceeds going towards cost of the event and any profits going to the Randy Sitter Memorial Scholarship in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU).
Only 200 attendee spots are available, due to limits in the Harbour Centre, so register early if you want a spot.
Speakers
The speaker line up has not yet been announced, as the potential speakers have until December 31st to apply their abstracts.
The speaker list will likely include a few of us from Hockey Graphs, and many of us will be attending as well.
Hope to see you there!
